At Blackbutt Reserve within the city of Newcastle, the size and structure of two Red-browed Finch
populations were examined. There were between 100 and 300 birds in the two populations. Little
movement between the two sites was observed despite the continuous nature of the bushland between
them. Survival rates at both sites were high probably because of advantageous environmental
conditions.
