Australian Bird Study Association inc. (ABSA)

ABSA aims to support, encourage and promote the study of Australian birds and to contribute to their conservation.

The virtual AGM that was conducted in response to the Covid-19 situation closed at noon on 9 April 2020. Thank you to the 31 members who participated in the on-line meeting and voting in the new Committee of Management and passing the two motions that were presented.

As the incoming President I would like to congratulate those committee members who have been re-elected with some taking on new roles.

I would like to thank Tony Hunt for his work as President over the last 3 years and his efforts in raising the profile of the Association. Tony will still contribute to the committee as Past President.

To Catherine Young, a big thanks for looking after both the Treasurer’s and Membership Officer’s roles – a formidable task! She has indicated that she would be willing to remain as Membership Officer.

Of course the first items that the Committee will be examining are the two motions which have been passed by the membership, i.e. the future of Corella and increasing funds of our FAR Grants.

Thank you,

John Farrell
