The breeding of Black Swans
Cygnus atratus on Llangothlin Lagoon Game Reserve
and Little Llangothlin Nature Reserve both during and after the 1981-1983 drought is
reported. Breeding success rates ranged up to 47% during the drought and 68% afterwards.
A possible link between low breeding activity, hunting pressures. and the legal
status of the lagoons is discussed.
