Fourteen Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service and Department of Environment
surveys were made of Milman Island from 1985 to 1995. A total of 81 seabird and non-seabird species
were observed. Numerous vegetation communities provide varied habitats and food sources for birds
at the island. Seven non-seabird species were observed either in breeding plumage or breeding.
Low-level human disturbance has little effect on nesting birds because of the remote location of the
island. Predation by amethystine pythons and estuarine crocodiles has been recorded.
